Critical Thinking while using Reason and Sense Perception Involves recognizing underlying assumptions , Scrutinizing arguments , Judging ideas and Providing positive and negative appraisal. To an extent Suspension of disbelief is a balancing act. Even when we are deferring judgment and immersed in some fantastical world, we are well aware that it is only fiction or figment of our Imagination.

In his book on Mental Health Flux , Frank DeFulgentis in dealing with forgetting irrational thoughts suggests “Suspension of disbelief” as opposed to forcing ourselves to forget.

Similarly in religious systems , suspension of disbelief is the main theme for most of religions of the world. The religious texts and the preachings support and encourage simplifying one’s life in order to focus on the most important. In the area of Arts, “suspension of belief” enables the audience to associate with what the artists strive to acheive , to express , connect and communicate through the art forms.A simple piece of art draws the senses and succeeds in evoking imagination , emotion and memories .

R. R. Tolkien  says that, even in narrative requiring to work with suspension of disbelief , the reader will use Reason and Belief within the secondary reality of the fictional world. By focusing on creating an internally consistent fictional world, the author needs to make the secondary belief possible.

To add and stress upon the point that Coleridge’s original statement came in a restrictive clause. The formulation “…that willing suspension of disbelief for the moment which constitutes poetic faith,” of necessity implies that there are different sorts of suspension of disbelief and specifies that poetic faith is one instance of a larger class.
